TENNA REED COOKE IS DOUBLE WINNER!
Tenna Reed Cooke of Chattanooga, a 25 year
old green-eyed blonde bombshell, blasted her way to a double win in the 14th
annual Resaca Beach Poster Girl Contest, sponsored by Bud Light June 19 in Dalton,
GA
The third-time participant topped 24 other finalists to win the Miss
Resaca Beach Crown, and was also chosen by Ms. Hit The Beach! 2000
representatives to compete in their national finals in Jamaica in November. She'll be a
busy traveler, because the 2000 Resaca Beach Poster will be shot on Flamingo Beach on the
pacific coast of tropical Costa Rica.
In addition to the trips, Ms. Cooke received $4,000 in cash, a woven gold
bracelet from Armen and Joseph Jewelers in Atlanta, a $250.00 gift certificate from Home
Town Images Photography, $100.00 in free cosmetics from B. Byers Ltd., and several other
prizes.
Runner-up in the personality/eveningwear/swimwear event was 25 year old Jennifer Corliss of Cumming,
GA, who entered the contest for the fifth time and was first runner-up once before.
Corliss walked away with $1,000 in cash plus other prizes. Interestingly, Corliss is also
the reigning Ms. Hit The Beach and graces the cover of their current calendar.
Rounding out the Bud Light Six Pack were second runner-up Michelle Hill, 24 of Lookout
Mountain, GA; third runner-up Mecalah
Huddleston, 24, of Chattanooga: fourth runner-up Mandy Daniels, 19, of
Marietta, GA; and fifth runner-up Kelly Raby, 21, of Ringgold, GA.
Entertainment for the extravaganza was provided by Carolina party Band The
Mighty Kicks. Finalists also attended a Friday night reception at the home of poster
photographer Jeffrey Brock and a Saturday poolside brunch at the beautiful estate of Zack
Norville.
The Resaca Beach Poster Girl Contest began in 1983, with Marla Maples claiming the
first crown. It was held continuously until 1995, and revived this year. The
sponsor-supported event has awarded over $117,000 in cash prizes, plus thousands of
dollars in trips and other prizes over the years.
Other notable past competitors include Miss USA runner-up Candi Brown, QVC air
personality Lisa Robertson, and Miss North Carolina USA Jessica
McMinn.
The contest is open to women 19 and older who live within 200 miles of
Dalton, GA, the carpet capital of the world.
